Send Us a Selfie

Send Us a Selfie

See this photo?

It's a piece of stock art. It's great, but it's not very personable. We're putting together a little project for the internet and we'd love you to be in it. Here's how to send us your smiles. Take a selfie (or find one you already love) and upload it to Twitter, Instagram or Facebook and tag us in it (@AlynandAJ on Twitter and Instagram or Alyn & AJ Jones on Facebook), then we'll collect them all and make a collage, only better than the one above.

We can't wait to see your smiley faces!

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

If you listened to the podcast this week, you'll know that we were talking about the importance of forgiveness. If you haven't heard AJ's testimony before, we've got a copy of her telling her story and how the power of forgiveness changed her life available for download. It's worth a listen and you can learn more here.

Finding Father Back In Stock

Finding Father Back In Stock

AJ's book, Finding Father, is back in stock after a few weeks wait. Grab a copy below (and if you prefer digital copies, you can find them here).

Thanks for your patience - sorry it took longer than we'd like.

Jingle

Jingle

AJ really wants a jingle for Keeping Up With The Joneses. So much so, that she announced a jingle competition this week on Episode 68. We've got a bunch of talented listeners, so here's some guidelines to help you.

  • The jingle should be between 30 and 45 seconds long
  • The jingle will be played at the end of the episode
  • We like happy, upbeat types of music

Here's the small print: by submitting a jingle, you give us rights to use it on the show (and in other ways we seem fit) in perpetuity, for free. As a thank-you for taking the time to make A.J. happy, if your jingle is selected, we'll do something nice for you as described below.

Prizes

If you live in the Nashville area AJ and I will take you (and a guest) out for dinner at one of the nice restaurants you hear us talk about all the time on our podcast. If you don't live in Nashville, but are likely to be in Nashville in the next 6 months, we'll store up a restaurant visit for you and eat good food when you get to town. If you live abroad (or don't want to spend time eating with us) we'll send you some great product (books and teaching CDs). Whatever happens we'll thank you on air for your jingle.

How to Submit Your Jingle

Once you've created your masterpiece, let us know via Twitter (@AlynandAJ) where you've posted it (YouTube, SoundCloud, Dropbox, whatever). We'll listen to it and announce a winner on air. Please submit your awesome jingle by October 1st.

Finding Father Sold Out

Finding Father Sold Out

If you've tried to order Finding Father in the last few days you'll know this already but we're all sold out! A few weeks ago, in anticipation of our stock being depleted we ordered more copies from our publisher and we were told they were sold out too! So, right now, more copies are being printed; our third run! Thanks for all your support - we'll let you know when we get more in stock.

For now though, you can still purchase electronic versions of the book. We have them in Kindle edition, iOS and an enhanced version for iPad.

Beta 87A vs 87C

Beta 87A vs 87C

Quick, what's the difference between these two microphones?

Exactly.

The inimitable Marco Arment released a podcast microphone review last week and his favorite pick was the Shure 87A. The same day somebody tweeted that Amazon was having a sale on the 87A but after clicking through I saw only the Shure 87C at a discounted price. Not being sure if there was a difference between the two (oh sure, one is a cardioid mic, the other a super cardioid mic!) I didn't pick one up for fear of wasting money.

This weekend, I borrowed both mics and put them into our normal podcast setup and recorded some samples to hear for myself the difference between the two mics. If you were wondering what the sound difference is between the 87A and 87C take a listen below:

Both mics were plugged into our Zoom H6 on the same input, same cable, set at the same level using the same pop filter. Clearly the 87A is a better sounding mic in this instance and the lack of noise is significant when compared to the 87C.

An Intro to Honor

An Intro to Honor

I had the privilege of sharing at Grace Center this morning. I chose to share on the topic of honor. If you missed the message you can catch up by watching the video above. It was difficult to condense our week long teaching into one message, but I hope I got the foundation down! If you'd like to hear the rest of the message, head over to our honor teaching page.
